My journey of reading manga and watching anime. The confession

Anime & Manga are really one of the best thing that ever appeared in my life.

Through these two greatest creation ever, I've learned a whole lot of new things.
I've been going through a lot, in the struggle of letting go them. But through thick and thin, I still hold on to them.

Haha, I know what I wrote sounds so exaggerated XD, but its true.

I've had troubles, like being judged a disgusting being by my classmates, because  I was sooo addicted in manga & anime. I had been judged homosexual because I read yaoi. And many others. It's painful, like so very painful, when you're being told stuff like that when its your hobby and you love it so much..

About my anime & manga journey :

I started reading manga when my friend posted a picture of Usui in facebook. At that time I fell in love to the world of anime & manga. I typed 'Usui Takumi' in google, found the link to mangafox, and that's the first manga site I've ever read from.

Then, mangafox got filtered. I panicked like crazy at that time XD!!! I thought that all manga sites existing are already blocked. I started to search and browse like crazy, searching for one manga site that is still accessible. And that's when i found my second manga site, tenmanga.

I enjoyed reading in tenmanga.. There, I read Magi, Oresama teacher, Shugo chara, and etc. But then, the same tragedy happened. But by that time, I had had a backup manga site. And that's my third one, mangatank.

Mangatank is one of my fave site at the time. There, we can load all images in one page. So, all you need to do is to scroll down, you don't have to click next one by one. I can still remember the first manga I read at mangatank is Nagasarete Airantou (sth like that). And the same tragedy happened to this manga site as well.

I thought that that's no problem. I can still search for other manga sites. And I was wrong. There's no manga site as awesome and magnificent as mangatank, where i can load all images. I opened all the manga sites I found, and checked one by one. But none of them have that feature. So, I decided on the last manga site that I opened. And that manga site becomes my most favorite manga site 'til today. Mangago.

Mangago is a wonderful manga site. There, we can communicate with many other manga enthusiast, express our opinion about any manga, comment on comments we agree or disagree, follow people to know their reading list, ask people for help about manga titles we have forgotten, ask people for help about a certain manga plot that we like, make manga list, and etc. And then, a new feature of load all images is added!! Isn't mangago just awesome!!?

Yeah, at first I WAS kinda disgusted tho.. I used to be an anti-homosexual. I was like ewww.... stop showing this shit to me... and blah blah blah... But yaoi (boys love / gay / homo) enthusiasts all gather together in this manga site. So, whether I want it or not, when there are two straight guys who arent gay at all are talking or being a bit friendly, those enthusiast will be lika, "KYAAA!! I SHIP XX AND YY SO MUCH!!" I was sooo annoyed at the time.. I mean, I am a shoujo maniac. When that is supposed to be a cute love story, and those fujodanshi just had to ruin it with their perverted and twisted imaginations. GRAAGHH!! I am so freaking pissed off at the time.!

Until well, my friend introduced me to a manga. For further details, read it at the guide to yaoi article. I've written about a certain tragedy with my friend there. Well, to conclude what happened, she introduced me to a manga. I didn't notice that its yaoi because the cover is like a girl and a boy. So, I read it. That's when I saw a very creepy X scene, disgusted, puked, but also curious at the same time. And that's when I became interested in it.

At that time, starting from tenmanga, I started to become so very addicted to manga. I could be reading a 100-chapter manga for a whole day. I would even sacrifice my sleep time just to read manga. Meanwhile at school, I'll sleep while I should be seriously listening to lectures.. And this became worse when I went to mangago. Before, I would at least study for exams and do homeworks. But when I start reading at mangago, I seemed to forget the urgency of examinations.. I don't what happened to me, but I seemed to have this mentality of  'studying is useless'. I didn't study for exams and finals, didn't do my homework, estranged relationship with my parents and siblings,  and all I do is reading manga.

That's when one day I found enlightenment. At that moment, I realized one thing. That I've been wasting my 4 years for something useless. And I tried to lessen reading manga. Well, I didn't give up on it tho.. XD. Its difficult to let it go, when you've been so very addicted to it.

Anyway, what I've learned and wanted to share to all you readers is that, reading manga is not something evil. In fact, you can learn a whole lot of new things through it. But, you mustn't let your life enslaved by it.

SO, what did I learn from reading manga?

1. I learned more Japanese words (obviously)
like honorifics (-san, -kun, -chi, -tan)
like moe, neko, seme and uke, yuri, yaoi, sensei, senpai, kon'nichiwa, tsudzuku, sayonara, suki desu, and etc.
like miso, omu rice. and etc.
like typical japanese names, ex. mikoto, haruka, sakura, tachibana, mizuki,
like many new words, ex otaku, weaboo,
like many new perverted knowledge ><
2. I learned life of Japanese students, like School fest, the joy of sport club, the joy of valentines day, the joy of white day, the happiness of going home with your loved ones, the despair when your crush go out with your best friend, and etc.
